The Chairman of Commonwealth Games Federation Mr Micheal Fennel said track is now in perfect shape for athletic events. Addressing a joint press conference Mr. Fennel and Chairman organizing Committee Suresh Kalmadi said on Wednesday morning that repair works have been completed and a technical experts team has approved it after a thorough inspection. Refuting charges about bad condition of track they said repairing work was immediately taken up just after conclusion of opening ceremony. Mr Fennel said federation has received reports from athletes about availability of facilities at Commonwealth Game Village and they are appreciating to the facilities provided to them at village including training, exercise and practice facilities. He admitted that transport problem is still prevailing but not a single event was held up due to non transportation of athletes and officials. He appreciated that separate lane provision for games participants and extended his gratitude towards Delhites for their cooperation. Mr. Kalamadi informed 7 new records were set up on 2nd day of the games. He said 3 games records were set up in cycling and 2 each in swimming and shooting events. Replying to questions about poor presence of spectators at some of stadia, Mr. Kalmadi said sale of tickets is getting momentum and more than 50 thousand tickets have been sold last day. He said interest level of people has gone up after grand performances of host country athletes.
