The selection committee headed by former Indian hockey captain Zafar Iqbal today recommended the names of former India volleyball captain TPP Nair, Davis Cup captain SP Misra and hockey goalkeeper Romeo James for this year's Dhyan Chand award. The committee shortlisted the players out of 60 applicants.SP Misra is associated with tennis and is the incumbent chairman of the current All India Tennis Association selection committee. MC Muthiah who was the multiple decathlon National champion and Jai Prakash Kangar, 1984 Olympian wrestler are among the prominent names that have missed out on the award. Dhyan Chand award is India's highest award for lifetime achievement in sports and games, given by the Sports Ministry.
