Tourism Ministry launches scheme for training of drivers

The Tourism Ministry has launched a scheme for training of drivers, seeking to introduce employable skills in tourism and hospitality sector. The scheme is open to young men and women in the age group of 18 to 28 years who are at least 10th pass and have preference for persons belonging to BPL category.

An official release said, the scheme will be implemented by the state governments and the UT Administrations which will select the driving schools.

The Central Institutes of Hotel Management in states and union territories will conduct the etiquette training under the overall supervision of the state government and UT administration.

The states will take effective measures to facilitate employment of the pass-outs. This will include a campus interview at the Institute of Hotel Management on the concluding day of each training course.
