Total of 20 cheetahs brought to India from Africa under Project cheetah so far

<span style="color: #222222;">Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said that a total of 20 cheetahs have been brought from Africa under Project cheetah so far. Eight cheetahs have been brought from Namibia and 12 from South Africa. <br />''<br />''He informed Rajya Sabha today that as per the Action Plan for the introduction of Cheetahs in India, about 12 to 14 wild cheetahs for establishing a new cheetah population, would be imported from South Africa or Namibia or Other African Countries, as a founder stock for five years initially and then as may be required by the programme. Mr Yadav said, the matter of translocation of lions from Gujarat to Madhya Pradesh is sub judice.</span><br />
