In Tamil Nadu, the total figure of COVID-19 infected cases has surged past the eight thousand mark today. Both, the state and its capital city Chennai have registered a new high in the newly infected cases. The state tally of new cases is 798 taking the total to 8,002, out of which, Chennai has recorded 538 new patients. Today's death toll at six is also the largest count on any single day so far, taking the total to 53. However, the fatality rate in the state remains at 0.66 per cent.
