The Minister said, over one lakh 93 thousand crore rupees of capital expenditure were incurred on foreign procurement for defence equipment by the Defence Services in the last five financial years.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''He said, 40 thousand 839 crore rupees of capital expenditure was incurred on foreign procurement for defence equipment in the Financial Year 2021-22.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Minister said, under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and Make in India initiatives, Defence Acquisition Procedure has introduced major policy initiatives for boosting indigenous defence capability and reduction of reliance on imports. He said, Defence Acquisition Procedure provides the highest preference to buy Indian category of acquisition and buying global is only permitted in exceptional situations with specific approval of the Defence Acquisition Council.</span><br />
