Torrential rains wreak havoc in Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh, heavy downpour was reported in several parts of the state yesterday. Torrential rain played havoc in holy city of Ujjain. The city recorded an unprecedented 319 mm rain in 24 hours. Temples at Ramghat in Ujjain have been submerged in Shipra. Rajgarh, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Guna, and Raisen also faced flood like situation.

Shipra, Narmada, Betwa, Kalisindh and other rivers and local streams are in spate at several places. At least six people were washed away in different parts yesterday. The Met Department has forecast heavy rain in western parts of the state today. District authorities have declared a holiday for schools in Indore, Ujjain and Vidisha today.
