In Uttar Pradesh, the torrential rain continues to disrupt normal life in eastern and central regions. At least 14 people have lost their lives in rain related incidents in different districts. With this the death toll in current spell of rain has mounted to 40. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the rain is still continuing in several eastern districts of the state like Gorakhpur since last night. Schools have been closed for the day as several city roads are waterlogged. Sugarcane crops have been damaged at several places due to high velocity winds. The river Ghaghra, Sharada, Burhi Gandak and Ganga rivers are in spate and are flowing above the danger mark in Gonda, Lakhimpur, Barabanki and Ballia. Four people have lost their lives in Ghazipur in incidents of house collapse and drowning.
