Topmost global biologists call for new investigations to ascertain all possible origins of Coronavirus

Topmost global biologists have called for new investigations to ascertain all possible origins of Coronavirus. In a letter published in the International Journal 'Science', Stanford University microbiologist David Relman and the University of Washington virologist Jesse Bloom with 16 other reputed biologists have called on China’s laboratories and agencies to open their records for an independent analysis.
”
”The scientists have said that hypotheses about both natural and laboratory spillovers of the virus must be taken seriously until sufficient data is available to suggest otherwise.
”
”A recent joint study of COVID origins undertaken by the World Health Organization and China, concluded that a bat virus likely reached humans via an intermediate animal and that a lab accident was extremely unlikely. The group of scientists have said that the conclusion in the joint report was not scientifically justified as no trace of how the virus first jumped to humans has been found in it. They added that the possibility of a laboratory accident received only a cursory look in the report.
”
”The scientists have demanded a proper investigation which they said should be transparent, objective, data-driven, inclusive of broad expertise, subject to independent oversight, and responsibly managed to minimize the impact of conflicts of interest. They said, the public health agencies and research laboratories need to open their records to the public for an objective Investigation.
