A top Taliban commander, Sher Mohammad Qasab who was captured after being injured seriously in a gun battle with security forces in Pakistan's restive Swat valley, succumbed to his wounds today. The military said this in a statement. Qasab, who was carrying a reward of 10 million rupees on his head offered by the NWFP government, was a close aide of Maulana Fazlullah, the chief of the Taliban in Swat.Qasab was the third high-profile Taliban commander to be arrested in Swat after militant spokesman Muslim Khan and commander Mahmood Khan.Security officials said Qasab was personally responsible for beheading security personnel and setting on fire girls' schools in Swat.
