In Odisha, a top Maoist leader has been killed during an exchange of fire between the security forces and red ultra at Mundatola under Chandiposh police station, about 40 km from Rourkela on early Tuesday morning. The dead Maoist is identified as Nuash alias Sameer Khalko and is said to be the area commander of Chandiposh. The exchange of fire took place when security forces traced a number of Maoists during combing operation. Other Maoists have fled the spot after the gun battle. The security forces have seized a 9 mm pistol and 25 rounds of bullets from the spot. Meanwhile, Maoists had fired at a passenger train between Barsuan and Rourkela in Sundergarh district of Odisha yesterday. Sameer Khalko was allegedly involved in this firing. However, there have been no reports any injury in this firing.
