In Jammu and Kashmir, a top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed while three others were trapped after an encounter with police and Army in Poonch district of Jammu Division. According to Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range, the top Lashkar-e-Toiba militant was killed while another was believed to be injured in the gun-battle that erupted at village Soni of Poonch district when police and Army encircled a hideout of the militants and challenged them. Enforcement of Army and police have been rushed to the spot to tighten the cordon. The deceased militant has been identified as Sohail. The IGP Jammu said the LeT outfit has suffered a major setback with the killing of Sohail, who had replaced Abu Huzefa as the outfit’s commander after the latter was drowned in a nullah at Bafliaz few days back. Police and security forces were maintaining a cordon around the hideout to ensure that the militants didn’t manage to slip away. Local people in the area were also helping police and security forces in the operation.
