Counting for Assembly polls in 3 states to start tomorrow Counting of votes in Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh will be taken up tomorrow. The counting would start at 0800 hours in various centers under the strict vigil of the officials of the Election Commission. In Maharashtra, the counting of votes for the 12th Maharashtra Assembly elections will start at 288 counting centers for as many seats in 267 locations across the state amid heavy security. The counting will decide the political fate of 3,536 candidates, including 1,820 independents. The polls took place on 13 of this month with 60.37 per cent voting through more 84,000 Electronic Voting Machines. According to sources at the election office, initial trends of counting would come out by 9 am and by noon the first result is expected. The final tally of the counting of most of the seats is expected to be clear by 4 pm. All the results are likely to be announced by late Thursday evening. In Arunachal Pradesh, the stage is all set for counting of votes for the State Legislative Assembly election. The fate of 154 candidates in 57 assembly constituencies will be decided tomorrow. Three Congress candidates including Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu have already been elected unopposed to the 5th Arunachal Pradesh Assembly. Repoll was held on Monday in 33 polling stations. Around 76 percent electorates had exercised their franchise in the October 13 polls and the October 19 repolls. The News Services Division of All India Radio will broadcast a special live bilingual programme in Hindi and English tomorrow from 0830 to 1400 hrs on the counting of votes.
