The CPIM has said that efforts will be made to form an alliance without Congress and BJP after the next general elections in 2014. Party General Secretary Prakash Karat said in Kanpur that an alliance without the Congress and BJP is possible after the Lok Sabha elections.

He said it is too early for commenting on the possibility of formation of a third front ahead of the elections. He refused to comment on Team Anna'a move to enter the political arena.
