The death toll in Kerala’s LPG tanker explosion near Chala in Kannur district has risen to 14, with three more persons succumbing to injuries. Eight people are still in various hospitals in critical situation. The accident took place on last Tuesday, causing injuries to about 40 people. About 15 houses and 35 shops in the area were destroyed in the fire. A number of vehicles were also gutted in the accident.Chief minister Oommen Chandy, who visited the houses of the victims of the mishap at Chala, said a special Cabinet meeting would be held on September 3 to discuss the issue related to the explosion. Meanwhile, the driver of the LPG tanker surrendered before the Kannur Police.
