Tokyo Declaration pledges to Afghan a sanctuary for global terrorism

India and other key world powers vowed never to allow Afghanistan to become a sanctuary for global terrorism again. The major donors also pledged 16 billion US dollar in aid to the war-torn country to prevent it from sliding back into turmoil after foreign forces leave in 2014. US Secretary of State Hillary said that the aid is enough to meet the estimated requirements of Afghanistan.
The Tokyo Declaration adopted at the end of the day- long conference on Afghanistan yesterday said the participants, including External Affairs Minister S M Krishna reaffirmed their respect for sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and independence of Afghanistan.
