Today is World Chess Day

Today is World Chess Day.&nbsp; The Day is observed to mark the date of the establishment of the International Chess Federation in Paris in 1924. On 12 December 2019, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 20 July as World Chess Day. Chess lovers around the world celebrate their favorite game on this day each year.<br />”<br />”Chess is one of the most ancient, intellectual and cultural games, with a combination of sport, scientific thinking and elements of art.&nbsp; Invented in India in the fifth century, this board game was originally named ‘Chaturanga’.<br />”<br />”<span style="color: #222222;">After the development of the game in India, it eventually spread to Persia.&nbsp; When the Arabs later conquered Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently spread to Southern Europe. It went through some extensive development in Europe. By the late 15th century, it had survived a series of prohibitions and Christian Church sanctions to almost take the shape of the modern game as most people know it today.</span><br />
