Today is National Public Service Broadcasting day

National Public Service Broadcasting day is being observed today. It was on this day in 1947 when Mahatma Gandhi visited the studios of All India Radio, AIR for the first and the last time.

AIR organised a function in its premises to commemorate the 64th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's visit to the Broadcasting House.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function, Director General All India Radio, L D Mandloi said that public broadcaster is playing a significant role in taking the information to the most marginalized section of the society.

Mandloi lauded public broadcaster for performing its job responsibly at a time when market forces are deciding the content of the private channels.
