The last date for e-filing of Income Tax returns will end today after the government had extended it for a week. A statement then issued by Central Board of Direct Taxes CBDT, said the government took this decision after receiving various representations that tax payers have faced difficulties in e-filing of returns across the country due to slowing down of certain e-services. Earlier the government had extended the last date for filing income tax returns form 31 July to 31 August, 2015. <br/><br/>The tax payers base in India is just about 4 crore out of a total population. The government aims to collect Rs 7.98 lakh crore in direct taxes in the current fiscal year.
