He played a leading role in bringing about Morley-Minto Reforms in India.<br />”<br />”He was one of the first generations of Indians to receive a university education. Gokhale graduated from Mumbai Elphinstone College in 1884.<br />”<br />”Apart from being a senior leader of the Indian National Congress, he was also the founder of the Servants of India Society. Through these organisations, he campaigned for Indian self-rule and social reforms. He was also a mentor to Mahatma Gandhi and guided Bapu on understanding of India and the issues confronting common Indians.</span><br />”<br />
