TN will be informed in advance about Sri Lankan VVIP’s visit: PM

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said information regarding private visits of Sri Lankan VVIP’s to Tamil Nadu will be shared with the state government.

In reply to Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalitha’s letter on this issue, Dr. Singh said necessary instructions have been given to the authorities handling these visits to keep in mind the views of the state governments and share the information of these visits.

Meanwhile, Ms. Jayalalitha in a letter to the Prime Minister on the continuing attacks on Tamil fishermen by Lankan fishermen said incidents of harassment continue unabated despite the assurances given by the island country.

She said these incidents prove that the Lankan Government has not taken serious measures to curb the incidents of violence against Tamil Nadu fishermen.

Ms. Jayalalitha sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in taking up the matter with the Sri Lankan president and ensure such incidents do not occur in the mid sea again.
