Tamil Nadu government has decided to move to the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Centre to reallocate power to be surrendered by Delhi government to it.

An official release said, a resolution to this effect was passed at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday.

She had on 24th October wrote to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention to reallocate to Tamil Nadu 1,721 MW of power to be surrendered by Delhi Government.
While the demand for power in Tamil Nadu is 12,000 MW, the availability is only 8,000 MW leaving a shortfall of 4,000 MW.
