In Tamil Nadu, ruling AIADMK candidate Saroja is leading after two rounds of counting in the Yercaud Assembly bye-election held last Wednesday.

At the end of the second round of counting AIADMK candidate Saroja was leading with 9866 votes .

Votes polled in EVMs are being counted at Salem CSI Polytechnic College counting centre. A record turnout of 90 per cent was registered for the bye-election. There will be 21 rounds of counting .

The byelection was necessitated after
the demise of AIADMK MLA Perumal on July 18.
