In Tamil Nadu, the second phase of polling for local body elections began this morning. Polling has been progressing peacefully in 194 rural Panchayat unions, 63 municipalities and 270 town Panchayats. Seventy five per cent of polling was reported in the first phase which was held on the 17th.Re-polling will be held tomorrow in seven booths. Counting will be on the 21st of this month. The State Election Commission had made elaborate security arrangements all over the State. The EVMs and ballot boxes are being guarded under tight security. Sensitive booths have been identified and put under video surveillance. Round the clock complaint cells are functioning at the respective district electoral offices to sort out issues immediately.
