Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Mr. K.Ponmudi has said the state has the distinction of having admitted the maximum number of students in the Engineering stream in the entire country this year. Speaking to newsmen in Chennai, he said a total of over 1,50,000 students have joined the 471 government and self financing engineering colleges.Taking into consideration that the state has the highest number of engineering colleges in the country, the minister said the state government has been recommended to All India council for technical education not to accord sanction to any more engineering colleges in the coming year.
