Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has said that five boiled eggs a week will be given to students covered under the nutritious meal programme. Inaugurating Asia’s biggest library, the Anna Centenary Library at a function in Chennai on Wednesday evening, he said at present, three eggs are given to the students every week and said from now on eggs would be given on five working days of schools a week. Mr Karunanidhi also announced a pay hike for conservancy workers, employed by the government, government undertakings and local bodies working on consolidated pay or daily wages.Earlier the chief minister unveiled the bust of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai at the entrance of the library.
