TN govt sets up one-man commission headed by retd judge to probe Chennai building collapse

Tamilnadu Government has set up a one man commission headed by Retd Justice R. Reghupathy to inquire into the 11 – storey building collapse which has taken the lives of 56 people.

In a statement today, Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa said that the inquiry commission will find out the reasons for the collapse and also preventive measures to be taken up during construction of such huge buidlings.

The National Disaster Response Force today said that rescue and relief work will continue for two more days.

27 persons have been rescued alive so far and are being treated at a private hospital in Chennai.The death toll is likely to increase further as the teams are nearing the ground and basement.
