The Tamil Nadu Government has allotted 18 crore rupees to ten districts to overcome the drinking water shortage. Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin made this statement today in the Legislative Assembly under rule 110. <br/><br/>The decision was taken on Wednesday at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and attended by the Chief Secretary and other top officials. <br/><br/>A sum of two crore rupees would be allotted to each of the eight districts, Virudhunagar, Dharmapuri, Salem, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Dindigul and Namakkal. <br/><br/>One crore rupees each would be allotted to Thiruvallur and Villupuram. <br/><br/>The amount will be used to drill bore wells, supply drinking water through tankers, deepen existing wells and repair pump sets. <br/><br/>The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that the Government will consider reports of drinking water shortage in other districts also for granting financial assistance.<br/>
