The Tamil Nadu government has accepted the recommendation of the prison Advisory Board Vellore rejecting the plea of early release by Nalini, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The state government's decision was conveyed to the Madras High Court by the Advocate General Mr. B.S. Raman. The plea of Nalini, the life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, seeking pre-mature release took a curious turn yesterday when Tamil Nadu government told the Madras High Court that it would file today the report of the Prison Advisory Board before the court. The state government offered to submit the report, when the case came up for hearing before a division bench, comprising Justice Elipe Dharma Rao and Justice K K Sasidharan. After Advocate General P S Raman told the court that he would present the report in a sealed cover, the bench posted the case for hearing today, even as the counsel for Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy opposed Nalini’s plea for premature release. The case had been facing adjournments for the last two months, as the State government had been telling the court that it had not received the report of the Advisory Board.
