The Tamil Nadu Government has constituted a Commission of Inquiry in the construction of the new secretariat headed by a retired judge of the High Court. This is one of the important announcements in the Governor’s address at the 14th Assembly session which began today. The commission will enquire into the alleged irregularities like excess expenditure, inordinate delay and deficiency in standards of construction during the DMK regime. The Government has declared zero tolerance towards corruption and said that it will continue to deliver social security schemes. The new system for old age pension which will deliver the pension at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries will begin from September 1st this year. It had also pledged to take stringent action against hoarding and black marketing as a price control measure. Price stabilization fund with a corpus fund of 50 crore rupees would be set-up to extend interest free financial support to the co operatives for market intervention to procure select commodities showing abnormal price rise and sell them through cooperative outlets at cost price to the public. The government has promised to strengthen police force by providing it with sophisticated equipment and training. E- Governance initiative like crime and criminal tracking network system will be put in place at the earliest.
