AIADMK General Secretary Ms. Jayalalitha on Monday alleged that the Tamil Nadu government had failed to protect the interest of the state on various issues. Addressing a protest rally in Madurai this evening, she alleged that the prices of essential commodities had skyrocketed in the last four and half years. Accusing the state government of being insensitive to the needs of the people, Ms. Jayalalitha said due to lack of proper maintenance of power plants, there were frequent power cuts affecting all sections of people including farmers, weavers. On the Mullaiperiyar dam issue, she said state government had failed o increase the height of the dam , despite a ruling by the Supreme Court.
