Tamil Nadu facing acute power shortage, it is necessary to open the Kudankulam power plant immediately. This was stated by G.K.Vasan, Union Minister of Shipping while addressing the media at Chennai. He further said, Kudankulam people should co-operate in opening the nuclear power plant as it is safe. He said, both State and Central Governments are taking all necessary steps for the welfare of the people and various schemes are implemented. The Minister called the protestors to withdraw their indefinite fast.Mr. Vasan said Shipping Ministry sought more private participation from the private sector in developing ports as investments in the said sector is expected to reach 50 lakh crore rupees in the 12th plan.
