The Centre has told the Supreme Court that the Tamil Nadu claim over the additional power surrendered by Delhi during winter cannot be decided without hearing other states.
Centre told a bench of Chief Justice Altamas Kabir and Justice J Chelameswar that Power Utilities of Assam, Uttar Pradesh, J&K, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bangalore also made applications for allocation of power to be surrendered by Delhi.
It further said that that other requesting states or agencies are necessary parties and ought to be heard as they may be prejudiced in the event of any order being passed on Tamil Nadu's plea for allocation of entire power being surrendered by Delhi
Tamil Nadu government has moved the court for a direction to the Centre to allocate it 230 MW of power round the clock and 1491 MW power from midnight to 6 AM, being surrendered by Delhi government.
