Tamil Nadu chief minister J.Jayalalithaa has sought Prime Minister's intervention to secure the release of 96 fishermen and their 82 fishing boats from Srilankan custody. In a letter, she has pointed out the arrest of 28 fishermen from Ramnad District and their 4 fishing boats by the Srilankan Navy in the last two days. <br/><br/>She has remarked that the fishermen have been apprehended while exercising their livelihood rights to fish in their traditional waters of the Palk Bay. The Centre should find a lasting solution to the long pending and highly emotive issue of fishermen's arrest, she has said.
