Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam has said, the Central and State government agencies have made a well coordinated effort to remove the oil spill in Ennore and Chennai. He took stock of the clean-up operations in the affected areas near the Kamarajar Port where a collision of two ships on 28th of last month resulted in the oil spill. He informed the newspersons, the leakage of oil was due to a rupture in the fuel pipe of the ship and not from the cargo tank. He also expressed hope, the whole operations involving about 5700 people would be over by two days. Mr. Panneerselvam assured the local fishermen of all assistance for the loss suffered by them and stressed that the fish is fit for human consumption and the marine flora and fauna are not affected.
