Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Selvi Jayalalitha today ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Muthalaipetti cracker fire accident near Sivakasi in which 38 persons were killed yesterday. In a statement issued today, the Chief Minister said that the licence for the private factory was cancelled a day before the accident. She said, the magisterial inquiry will be conducted by District Revenue Officer and report will be submitted to the government. Ms. Jayalalitha added that four crore 50 lakh rupees will be given to Sivakasi Government Hospital to set up better facilities like Plastic surgery unit, orthopaedic unit, physiotherapic unit and rehabilitation centre. The hospital will be made a centre of excellence. After a meeting at Chennai with State Health Minister Dr V S Vijay and high officials, she ordered Virudhunagar district collector to immediately inspect all cracker factories in the district.
