<span style="color: #222222;">Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has asked the Centre to include the Master's degree in Tamil as one of the eligible qualifications for admission to the proposed post-graduate diploma course in Archaeology.<br />'' <br />'' The Union Culture Ministry has introduced a two-year PG Diploma course in Archaeology. It is to be conducted by the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute at Greater Noida.<br />'' <br />'' In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, Mr Palaniswamy has lauded the initiative saying it will create a talent pool to unravel the glorious past in a professional way.<br />'' <br />'' He has however said the prescribed minimum qualification for the course is a PG degree in Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic or Persian only.<br />'' <br />'' He has said Sanskrit is the only classical language included in the list, adding Tamil is excluded, though it is a classical language.<br />'' <br />'' The chief minister has mentioned that more than half of the nearly 48,000 inions in all the languages that have been published so far by various agencies in India are in Tamil.<br />'' <br />'' He has asked the Archaeological Survey of India to suitably amend its guidelines to include a PG in Tamil also eligible for admission to the new professional course.<br />'' <br />'' </span><br />
