The Tamil Nadu Assembly today adopted a unanimous motion on the rejection of the mercy petition in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Moving the special motion, Chief Minister Ms.J.Jayalalithaa spoke in the Assembly appealing to the President of India to review the rejection of the mercy petition of the three convicts who are to be hanged on 9th of September in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Ms.Jayalalalithaa said that considering the sentiments and the feelings of the Tamil people, she has brought forth the special resolution. She said that the resolution has been moved since all political parties throughout the State have been appealing to the Chief Minister to intervene in the cancellation of the death penalty.
