The Annual Plan for Tamil Nadu for the year 2010-11 was finalized in New Delhi today at a meeting between Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M. Karunanidhi. <br/><br/>The Plan outlay was agreed at over 20 thousand crores rupees. This includes an additional Central assistance of 150 crores rupees provided for projects of special interest to the State.<br/><br/>In his comments on the plan performance of the State, Dr Ahluwalia said plan realization has been good but more efforts are needed to take State economy to previous levels of growth. He said Tamil Nadu's economic performance was very impressive and better than the national average during 2004-05 to 2006-07.<br/><br/>Dr. Ahluwalia said that the State was advised to have more emphasis on agriculture growth and need to improve productivity by developing further dry-land agriculture, stepping up productivity, and more focus on technology and research.<br/>
