The TRINAMOOL CONGress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee has categorically said that her party will remain in the UPA. Addressing a public rally in Kolkota, she urged the centre for a moritorium for three years on debt burdon of the state. Ms. Banerjee also announced advancing of Panchayat Elections in the state after Durga Puja festival and withdrawal of party candidate from Gorkha land territorial administration election in Darjeeling scheduled to be held on the 29th of this month. She said, the TMC will go it alone in the Panchayat elections.
AIR Kolkkata correspondent reports that the rally was organised in memory of 13 youth Congress activists who were killed in police firing during the previous left front rule in 1993. She was the Youth Congress President in the state at that time. The state congress also observed the day separately with the state party president Pradeep Bhattacharjee demanding speedy work of the inquiry commission set up by the Tri namool Congress led government to probe the killings.
