Trinamool Congress has demanded an explanation in writing from the party MP Tapas Pal within 48 hours for allegedly threatening to kill opposition CPI(M) workers and have their women raped if a single ruling party worker was attacked in West Bengal.

Party spokesperson Derek O Brien told reporters that the statements made by Tapas Pal were utterly insensitive.

The party does not in any way endorse what he said many weeks ago, which is being played out on TV channels.
