Trinamool Congress members today staged a walkout in the Rajya Sabha alleging that the Government is indulging in political vendetta against opposition members who opposed demonetisation. Responding to this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Abbas Muktar Naqvi rejected opposition allegations stating that the arrests were made following court orders in a Chit-fund scam case and the Government has nothing to with the matter. He further said there was no scope for political vendetta in post demonetisation.

Earlier, raising the issue during Zero Hour, Derek Obrien of the TMC alleged several public representatives of the party have been arrested as his party was in the forefront in opposing the demonetisation. He also alleged that more than 100 persons died of trauma while standing in long queues before the ATMs post demonetisation period. The members walked out after the Deputy Chairman Prof P. J. Kurean refused to allow their notice for discussion on the issue.
