TMC formally withdraws support to UPA govt

Trinamool Congress, TMC, which was a key ally of the UPA today formally withdrawn its support to the government.

Talking to media , party general secretary Mukul Roy said that he has submitted the withdrawal letter of TMC to President Pranab Mukherjee in view of the what he called the anti people decisions taken by the government.

Earlier, all the six ministers of Trinamool Congress, TMC Ministers in UPA Cabinet have tendered their resignations to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today. After submiting their resignation, TMC leader Sultan Ahmed told media persons outside the PM's residence that Dr Singh has accepted their resignations and will forward it to the President. The Ministers — Mukul Roy, Sudip Bandhyopadhay, Sultan Ahmed , Sougata Roy, Sisir Adhikary and C M Jatua — went to the Prime Minister's residence to submit their resignations.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday had announced her decision to withdraw support to the UPA protesting the Centre's decisions to hike diesel prices, withdraw subsidy on cooking gas and allow FDI in multi-brand retail.
