The votes polled in Tiruchirapalli West Assembly bypoll held on 13th October will be counted on Thursday. Sixteen candidates including DMK’s K N Nehru and AIADMK’s Paramjothi contested in this election.First the postal votes will be counted at 8 am on Thursday. Then votes polled in EVMs will be counted in Saranathan Engineering College Counting center.There will be eighteen rounds of counting and the early trends are expected to be out by 11 AM.This bypoll witnessed intense campaigns by AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister Selvi J Jayalaithaa and DMK chief Sh M Karunanidhi for their respective party candidates.The seat fell vacant after the sitting MLA and State Environment Minister Mariampichai died in a road accident near Padalur on May 23.
