Minister of State for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath has called for strengthening of laws to check child abuse and injustice against women, particularly those from backward classes and religious minorities. Police force should also be sensitised on the issue.
She was speaking to reporters in New Delhi after inaugurating a two-day conference on these issues. Tirath said that government has ordered for registration of all orphan houses and making available data about them online to curb abuses.
Krishna Tirath also said that the government is always open to opinions and suggestions from activists and NGOs working at the grassroots level for improvement of services to backward classes.
