Tihar-Prisons to provide 500 p/m to needy prisoners

The Tihar-Prisons-authorities have launched a new scheme called, Sparsh, to provide five hundred rupees per month as financial help to poor and needy prisoners in the jail. Informing this in New Delhi today, the jail spokesperson, Sunil Gupta said under the scheme over two thousand inmates will get this amount and they can use it to meet their requirements from the jail canteen.

He said the move will boost their morale, relieve them of the stress and also stop them from being repeated offenders. AIR correspondent reports that the idea of Sparsh scheme was conceived following report of low morale among poor inmates who usually do not have any visitors.
