Tihar Prisons conducts fifth campus placement for inmates

Tihar Prisons has conducted its fifth campus placement for its inmates with companies involved in packing services and footwear participating in the selection process today. Fourteen companies selected 19 candidates from 24 convicts whose jail terms are likely to finish in six months. Talking to AIR, spokesperson of Tihar Prisons Sunil Gupta said, Sanjay Satpal landed a job with a monthly salary of 45 thousand rupees as a business executive in a private company.

Others who were hired by the particating companies will work as drivers, sales executives and typists in the companies. The placement progamme was aimed at providing job opportunities to such inmates whose conduct during their jail term has been good and possessed required qualifications for jobs offered by the companies.

AIR correspondent reports that in four successful campus placements conducted last year and in 2010, 338 Tihar inmates got appointment letters from different industries in different positions with salaries ranging between 84 thousand and six lakh rupees annually. The first recruitment drive was conducted on 25th February 2010.
