Tihar Prisons conducting campus placement for inmates

Tihar Prisons will conduct its fifth campus placement for its inmates with companies involved in packing services and footwear set to participate in the selection process today. Fourteen companies will select candidates from 24 convicts.

Talking to AIR, spokesperson of Tihar Prisons Sunil Gupta said, the placement progamme is aimed at providing job opportunities to such inmates whose conduct during their jail term has been good and possess required qualifications for jobs offered by the companies.

Our correspondent reports that in four successful campus placements conducted last year and in 2010, 334 Tihar inmates got appointment letters from different industries in different positions with salaries ranging between 84,000 and 6,00,000 rupees annually. The first recruitment drive was conducted on 25th February 2010.
