Tihar Jail has lunched a programme to help the illiterate inmates to learn basic reading and writing skills. Over 60 volunteers from different reputed organisations, including housewives, students, retired professors, doctors and engineers will help the jail administration in this project.
Jail Spokesperson Mr. Sunil Gupta said the programme namely, Padho Padhao, has been started with the help of Ministry for Human Resource Development. He added this project had been undertaken to make inmates hundred percent literate. Mr. Gupta said the jail administration had invited voluntary help from people, in response many, individuals and organisations offered their services.
