In Pakistan, there is tight security in Karachi, where the funeral is taking place today of a prominent Pakistani politician, who was murdered in London in September. Dr. Imran Farooq was one of the founders of the MQM movement, which is part of Pakistan's ruling coalition, and also controls Karachi. The government has appealed for calm from all political parties. MQM leaders say the funeral will take place at mid-afternoon, followed by the burial. They have called on their activists to exercise restraint.
